Backstory

the plot, in three acts

Act 1: Atlanta

We crossed paths around Atlanta for years without really talking. Then, the summer before college, we finally got to chatting in a friend’s backyard and found out we were both headed to UGA. Turns out we’d been in each other’s orbit the whole time.

Act 2: Athens

Four years of college together, and one winter break ski trip to Steamboat, our first time in Colorado together. We were total Jerries. We loved it anyway, and swore we’d live in Colorado one day.

Then: rental gear, ridiculous puffy clothes, falling on the bunny slopes.

Now: better skiers, better outfits

Intermission

We made it to Colorado, just like we said we would. Somewhere in there, a few dramatic exits, and even more encores. We kept finding our way back to each other, and grew up a lot along the way.

Act 3: The Pears

A little time apart. Then pears from Patrick’s garden showed up on Anabel’s doorstep. Mysteriously with no name (smooth). We reconnected, and this time, it stuck.

Finale

Now we’re home in Colorado with Pearl, who’s been there for all of it (every act, every encore) and has never had it better. Next stop: Steamboat, right where it started.
